Stronger than who we are.

Tears dropped, life’s going on.

Lesson learnt. Though burst into tears, still, we hang on with a smiling face. Because we know, out there compare to the others, we are not the unlucky one, we shouldn’t be so fragile, I mean, so breakable. There are many more people who need us, our support and our guides, no doubt.

Ya, again. We are very welcomed by the occupants. Their expressions told, their movements revealed, their excitement is our motivation, mutually. We were divided into two groups, one went out to “visit” the plants and one stayed inside to prepare for the next activity. We carried out our plants-visit session by moving the pots to a more middle place so that there were certain space in between. The pots were moist due to the rainy night the day before. So we taught the occupants to differentiate between the vegetables and the unwanted leaves. There were snails inside the pots too! Some of the occupants were exciting seeing them. The occupants followed our instruction and removed the leaves and grass. After ending the activities, we made sure each of the occupants had washed their hands before going back to the center.

Next, we proceed the activity by revising the number 1, 2, 3, and 4 they learned during the last visits. Though not many of them could actually recognize the number, they showed interests to learn and co-operate with us =) We drew the number from 1 to 4 each on an A4 size paper. We asked the occupants to step on the paper when the leader of the activity spoke out the number. We guided and led them, giving positive reinforcement when they were correct. They smiled and we knew that’s the greatest gift for them. After that, we taught them the number from 5 to 9. Each occupants was guided by 1 to 2 students. We repeated the number to enhance their memory. We also taught them to pronounce and memorize the number sequence.

After that, each of us had our small activity on our own occupants. Some played “fishing game” and compete between themselves, some took turn to place the puzzle on the board according to number and alphabet and some built Lego on their own. Everyone was trying to help the patients at least to make them happy or else have little enthusiasm to carry out their activities. The day ended with discussion, question to ponder? What’s your expectation in carrying the assessment and intervention?

After all, don’t drag yourself with patient’s problems when things came to the end. Put off what pressure your shoulders. Life’s easy. Always.
